    Alaska Pipeline

For 12 years, Hans worked on the Alaska pipeline, building scaffolding, setting a record by working 42 weeks without a day off. He worked in temperatures at 30 below -- and was primarily stationed at Point Barrow, in Prudhoe Bay. His home in Fairbanks was across from the Daily News Miner, and you can check out their webcam -- the weather is rough! Hans figures he drove back and forth between Alaska and Los Angeles at least 10 times.
